Look and talk: Unterrichtsidee & interaktive Tafelfolie
Didaktisches Ziel & Zweck
Free speaking with a scaffold. Without starters, a Year 5 class answers “describe the picture” with one word — with them, a sentence appears.
Phasierung & Ablauf im Unterricht
- Show only the picture first; keep quiet for half a minute. Looking is part of the task.
- Collect what comes without help. Mostly single words — that is fine.
- Tap the first starter and say a sentence yourself. That sets the pattern.
- Fetch further starters only when they are needed. All of them visible at once is a wall of text, not help.
- Finally the guessing sentence: Maybe … That is where describing stops and speaking starts.
Classroom English & Redemittel
Hilfreiche Sprachimpulse für eine einsprachige Moderation:
- “What can you see?”
- “Tell me more about the dog.”
- “Use the sentence starter, please.”
- “What do you think is happening?”
Differenzierung & Varianten
As pair work: two minutes in pairs with the starters, then two pairs report. Or one pupil describes, the class closes its eyes and draws along.
