Didaktisches Ziel & Zweck

The distinction that decides between much and many, and between a and some. It is learnt by sorting hundreds of nouns, not by learning a rule — and here the sorting is the game.

Phasierung & Ablauf im Unterricht

  1. Say the rule once: if you can say two of them, it is countable. Then the bins say the rest.
  2. One pupil sorts for forty-five seconds. The others may not call out — the belt is fast enough.
  3. Afterwards go back over the ones that went wrong: two water? two waters? That is where the rule gets learnt.
  4. Next pupil. The order is new, so the answers cannot be remembered from the last go.

Classroom English & Redemittel

Hilfreiche Sprachimpulse für eine einsprachige Moderation:

  • “Can you count it? Then it goes left.”
  • “Two breads? No — bread goes right.”
  • “Careful, that one is a trap.”
  • “Fifteen right. Who wants a go?”

Differenzierung & Varianten

Afterwards without the belt: everyone writes down three of each from memory. Or with two belts as a duel between two pupils.
